.. was sick
Things I learned about myself:
- I pick shit up really quickly.
- My hip internal rotation is very, very bad. I have to fix this shit before I even squat heavy ever again.
- I supposedly have long femurs in relation to the rest of my body. Funny, seeing as I’m a short arse. As a result of this and the above bullet point, I have to change a lot of shit - including the way I squat.
Things I learned from the course itself
- Snatch progressions (20 point progression), and full snatch from hang and floor (at a max of 40kg)
- Split jerk (at a max of 40kg)
- How to properly bail on a failed lift, so that you don’t die.
- My own optimal power position, and foot positioning for pulling and receiving the snatch and split jerk.
Although the numbers are low, nailing it with the best technique I could muster and really drilling perfect foot positioning is something I’ve never done before, and it feels great.
Was really happy with myself at the end of it. Seeing as the coach is the NSW and Commonwealth Games team coach, my spirits were lifted when he told me he told me I was talented and wants me on his training squad. It’s expensive as fuck, but he was willing to dramatically cut costs, which is good. I’ll see how I go.
